In an intensely physical contest marked by high emotions and big collisions, HKFC (Football Club) pulled away in the second half to secure a 31–7 victory over Valley Fort. Despite strong defensive sets and an opportunistic try from Valley Fort’s Elvin, HKFC capitalized on late momentum shifts and clinical finishing to seal the win.
First Half
The match opened with a scrappy passage of play. Both sides struggled early for clean possession, exchanging quick turnovers and penalties—first against HKFC for hands in the ruck, and shortly after against Valley Fort for holding on.
Defensive Resilience: Valley Fort’s defense was tested early inside their own 10-meter line. High-impact tackles from Benji, Helios, and the combined efforts of Archie and Elvin kept HKFC at bay near the line.
Attack out Wide: Valley Fort found occasional space on the flanks, with Asher spreading play to Max Rosas on the right wing and later feeding Paddy, whose pirouetting run down the left touchline broke several tackles.
Set-Piece Battle: Scrums were fiercely contested. Valley Fort held solid under heavy pushes from the HKFC pack, though minor breakdown discipline (offside at the scrum, side entry, holding on) repeatedly gifted HKFC field position.
Breakthrough: Late in the half, following a period of persistent attacking pressure near the Valley Fort 22, HKFC managed to break through for the opening score.
Half-Time: HKFC 5 – 0 Valley Fort
Second Half
The second half began with high intensity as Valley Fort looked to claw back the early deficit.
HKFC Extends Lead: Early in the second period, HKFC took advantage of a defensive lapse on the fringe to score their second try, extending their lead to 10–0 (conversion missed).
Valley Fort Fightback: Valley Fort responded with physical carries from Asher, Cyrus, and Benji, forcing breakdown penalties against HKFC. After sustained pressure off a quick penalty tap, Elvin carried strongly down the right of the field, crossing the line and then dotting down to the right of the posts. George added the extras to make it 10–7.
Turning Point & Injury Delay: HKFC pressed back aggressively into Valley Fort's 22. A brave goal-line stand featured key tackles from Murray and Jake Mahalva, but came at a cost when Elvin went down injured.
Late HKFC Blitz: Following the restart, HKFC used their heavy forward unit to dynamic effect before spreading the ball to their dangerous backline. Three quick tries in succession—including a runaway effort down the right wing despite a valiant chase from Paddy—put the game out of reach.
