Valley Fort Chairman's update - February + ESPN Six Nations Fantasy League

Valley Fort parents,

Kung Hei Fat Choy! I hope that all of you have had an enjoyable CNY, and for
those of you still away on holiday, have a great time and safe travels back
to Hong Kong.

This is a quick note to remind you of upcoming training times, and also to
encourage you and your kids to sign up for the ESPN Six Nations Fantasy
League (see below). Finally, for those of you in Hong Kong, you can still
sign your kids up for the Valley Fort CNY Rugby Camp this Thursday/Friday
(which is not only a good place to park your kids for two half days, but
also an excellent forum for them to continue to develop their rugby skills).

1. Minis Training

Friday, February 3. 6.30 to 8.00 HKIS training for U9 through U12, including
girls. Jessie will circulate the bus schedule.

Sunday, February 5

*         At Stanley Fort. Plan for delays in entering the Fort as there
will be a security check. Also, it is critical that you obey any directions
from the PLA soldiers. They may have some strange ideas about how they want
you to park, but they do have guns! While you're at the Fort, go visit the
Clubhouse where Chez Patrick will be serving coffee, pastries and more.
Jessie will have all our latest merchandise which is well worth checking
out.

o   9.45 to 11.30: U9, U10, U10G, U12G

o   10.00 to 11.30: U7, U8

o   10.15 to 11.30: U5, U6

*         At St. Stephen's. There is no parking at St. Stephen's

o   9.00 to 10.30: U11

o   10.30 to 12.00: U12

Don't forget to bring mouth guards, plenty of water, sunscreen and plenty of
enthusiasm!

Colts, please refer to emails from head coaches.

2. ESPN Six Nations Fantasy League

As you should all be aware the Six Nations kicks off this weekend with
Scotland playing Ireland (10.25pm), England playing France (12.50am) and, on
Sunday, Italy vs Wales (10pm). Many of you participated in the Valley Fort
league as part of ESPN Fantasy Rugby for the 2015 and 2016 Six Nations and
also the 2015 Rugby World Cup. Well it's back!

I've set up a Valley Fort league for the 2017 Six Nations for Valley Fort
kids, parents, coaches. Instructions are quite straightforward. Just select
a team and you'll receive points based on appearances, points scored and
performances of your selected players. You are allowed a maximum of 4
players from each team, and a limited number of changes between each round
of games.

We will award prizes, which are still to be determined/donated, but along
the lines of previous competitions:

*         Winner: signed shirt

*         Runner-up: bottle of champagne

*         1st kid: HKD500 voucher - Amazon.com or iTunes

It's a lot of fun and so I'd encourage you to join, and to also sign up for
your kids too. Click on the link below, register and then select your team.
Remember to do this before 10pm on Saturday night when Scotland kick-off
against Ireland.

So sign up using the link
http://fantasyrugby.espn.co.uk/CleverTV_espn/en/espn/fantasy/5/entryminileag
uemanagement.do and the Valley Fort League password: 1303858-43923. Or go to
invitation email forwarded below.

For the record, our past winners:

*         2016 Six Nations: I can't find the record in my email, but believe
Basile Mallinson (U9) and Philippine Mallinson (U12 girls) were both in the
top 3

*         2015 RWC: 1. Andrew Kelly, 2. Charlie Von Burg (U9), 3. David
Mallinson

*         2015 Six Nations: 1. Andrew Kelly, 2. Olly Stratton, 3. JB Aldige

Have fun, and let's see whether we can keep the Mallinsons out of the top 3!

3. Valley Fort CNY Camp on Feb 2/3 at King's Park

In Hong Kong, had enough of your kids, and wondering what to do with them
for the rest of this week? We can take them off your hands on Thursday and
Friday, but only if you sign them up for the Valley Fort CNY Rugby Camp. Not
only that, but it is also an excellent forum for them to continue to develop
their rugby skills with expert guidance from our pro coaches. We're even
putting on a bus service....

For those of you who will be in Hong Kong over Chinese New Year, our pro
coaches are putting on another camp, to be held at King's Park on
Thursday/Friday, February 2 & 3, 9am to 1pm. The camp will be for U6 though
U16 boys and girls.

Please bring along non-Valley Fort friends as well. To encourage more
participation, we've decided to reduce the cost and to provide an additional
discount for 2nd, 3rd (and 4th for the really productive parents!) kids. We
had 60 kids at the Xmas Camp and feedback was very positive. So sign up now!

We are providing a bus service from the southside to King's Park.

Details below and in the attached flyer.
