Valley Fort parents,

This message is coming out a bit late this week, but I’m afraid that’s
because of spending a lot of time doing the Sevens tickets. I’ll keep this
message very quick, with a summary of upcoming training and events….

…but before doing that, a quick recap on results/performances from last
weekend. Some really good performances all round

·         Congratulations to U12 for a very successful Richard Hawkes. VF1
were runners-up in cup, and VF2 were runners-up in Bowl (coming back from
3-0 down at half-time to 3-3; so close to winning with golden try in 5
minutes sudden death overtime; losing by account of coming 2nd in qualifying
group…)

·         U12 girls made cup semi-finals of Kim Lam

·         U13 won 3rd place (VF1) and something else (VF2)

·         U14 won 3rd place (VF1)

·         Strong performances by all 3 VF teams in U11…

2. Sevens and Sevens tickets

A big thanks to Hannette and Hester for all their help, and also to all of
you for your patience. As I write this, we’re nearly there with all the
allocations and plan to be distributing to minis parents on Sunday and to
colts (and others) in Central during the week. We’ll circulate a final list
tomorrow. Please bring cash or a cheque (made out to “Valley Fort Rugby
Football Club Limited”) to St. Stephen’s/Stanley Fort. No payment, no
tickets! If you can’t make it this Sunday, we’ll likely have somewhere in
central during the week and also at St. Stephen’s and the Fort next Sunday.

Just to summarise the status of Valley Fort ticket sales:

·         We’re sold out of child tickets and Saturday adult tickets

·         There has been strong take-up of the available Friday and Sunday
tickets. We’ll let you know tomorrow whether there are any left to buy

Please remember that these tickets are for the use of Valley Fort kids,
parents, relatives and friends. You should NOT sell them through
unauthorized channels or we run the risk of not being allocated tickets next
year (they can be traced back to the club, and to you individually, by the
serial number). If you end up with extra, please see if anybody in the club
wants them. If not, you can sell them on www.viagogo.com (see below).

If you want to get extra Saturday tickets, you should go to the HKRU’s
official partner website
http://www.viagogo.com/Sports-Tickets/Rugby-Union/Hong-Kong-Sevens-Tickets

Sevens showcase games. For those kids playing on Friday (U7, U9, U10, U10G,
U11 VF1, U12G), I have attached school release letter templates for you to
use.

March past. This takes place at around 2pm on Saturday and coaches and mini
kids are welcome to participate, but they have to be wearing full Valley
Fort kit. More details to follow next week.

3. Valley Fort Easter Rugby Camp – Thu/Fri April 13 & 14

If interested, please sign up through Jessie on valleyfort.info@gmail.com

4. Valley Fort end of Season Party, Saturday, May 6

Don’t forget that the “V is for Valley Fort” end-of-season celebration
planned for Saturday, May 6 at Mr and Mrs Fox, a Swire Properties restaurant
in Quarry Bay. Sign up for tickets and start getting in the mood… The
organisers were going to be selling tickets this Sunday at the Fort, but
given the activity with Sevens tickets, and some non-returnees from Macau,
we’ll hold off until next weekend. In the meantime, you can secure your
place by emailing Allison Creel on acreel@gavekal.com Please refer to flyer
below and attached.

5. Valley Fort ESPN Six Nations Fantasy League

A bittersweet weekend for many of us England fans with England losing to
Ireland and missing out on the record of consecutive tier 1 wins as well as
a repeat Six Nations Grand Slam, but winning the Six Nations all the same.
What happened in the Fantasy League? Well, the frontrunners managed to stay
ahead through the last weekend and our 3 winners are:

1.       Andrew Stratton’s Squad of Dreams  - 422 points

2.       James Donnelly XV – 416 points

3.       Harry Nichol’s Solid XV – 402 points

Congratulations to these 3. I’ve forgotten what the prizes were going to be,
but no doubt Andrew will remind me and we’ll sort something out before the
end of the season…

6. Dinners during Sevens week

Just a reminder of 2 entertaining dinners being held during Sevens week:

a.       USA rugby dinner “Meet the Eagles” Wednesday, April 5. Support the
USA Rugby 7s team during its upcoming visit to Hong Kong by attending the
annual charity dinner that Valley Fort parents Ed Sippel and Andy Schroth
are helping to organize at HK American Club (Town Club) on Weds, April 5, 6
to 10pm (Wow! These Americans go to bed early!). The USA Men's Rugby 7s team
is a non-profit sports organization that relies largely on donations from
the American community worldwide.  The players will be joining the charity
dinner. Tickets are US$260 for individuals and tables are also available
from US$2,340. For details go to link
https://rugby.swiftprocessing.io/public/usarugby/events?event_id=35. For
more information, contact Jessica Welsh at jwelsh@usarugby.org or
+1-720-508-8015, Grace Tam at gtam@ta.com or Ed Sippel at esippel@ta.com

b.      Pyrenees 7 (P7) Dinner on April 4. Eric Lorin, Olivier Arzel, Andre
Marzloff and Thierry Barot are organising a fun rugby lovers dinner for the
P7 at HKFC on April 4 with the objective of helping to finance the P7 who
are competing in the GFI 10’s tournament on April 5 and 6. Players attending
the dinner will include two former French internationals, Imanol
HARINORDOQUY and Damien TRAILLE (Eric, maybe they will no longer be “former”
– France look as though they need some help in the Six Nations!). There will
be speeches from the two VIP guests, and lots of gifts (shirts, rugby balls,
food tickets for 10’s and 7’s …) with their Pyrenees 7's tombola and some
exclusive auction prizes. Imanol and Damien will also run a kids training
session that afternoon. Details to follow. Prices range from HKD680 for
individual seat, HKD8,160 for “rugby lover” table up to HKD18,000 for VIP
GOLD table. Please email p7kirclub@gmail.com before March 20  to book your
place

Have a great weekend,

Olly
