VFu19 - Game this Sunday - Training tomorrow - mini match report - game photos

Hi all,

First a note to wish Julien the prompt recovery of his fractured wrist.

2) Contrary to my mail on Saturday, there IS a game this Sunday. Div 1 Valley Fort 1 versus Tigers at King's Park.
Kick off is at 10:45 am so we will meet at 9.20 am at Happy Valley Tram Terminal or straight there if it is more convenient for you.
Let me know if you are out of town this week-end given the holidays

3) Training is on tomorrow Thursday 6.15 pm - 8 pm. Happy Valley Pitch 6. Let me know if you can;t attend.

4) Next week, mid-week training will be at Happy Valley on Wednesday 4 Oct 6.15 - 8 pm [Pitch isn't available on Thursday]

5) Mini match reports:

Div 1 : 17 - 33 loss to HKFC blue. Lack of discipline, fitness and a proper game plan cost us a game we could have won in the first quarter. The score is misleading too given our 2 late tries when we started playing as a team. Main positive was excellent individual commitment to tackling and spirited (even if somewhat headless) runs. I am confident in the future once proper game and mind management is implemented.

Div 2: A very convincing  win over Breakthrough Panda (5 or 6 tries to 2). Excellent performance and attitude for all. Great considering most of the players had some runs in the Div 1 game. A big kudos to all the newcomers to Valley Fort and the U19 age group. A special mention to Niklas Rauhut for his relentless and excellent tackling on his first ever Rugby game.

Game Photos from our team photographer Celeste. (https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1967382416810773.1073741863.100006171009913&type=3)  - You might not be able to see them if not Celeste's friend. If so, we will sort this out and revert.

See you all tomorrow,

Fred

[VFu19] Training tomorrow morning: Happy Valley pitch 6 - 10:30 am.

Good news,

The sluggishness of Typhoon Mawar means that the chance for T8 tomorrow is quasi nil.

So see you all at 10:30 am at Happy Valley Pitch 6 (formerly known as HV Pitch 8).

Bring tons of water. That means at least 2 litres each.  And a dry bag as we are likely to get drenched if not by the rain, it will be seaty out there tomorrow.

[VFu19] U19 - Valley Fort Welcome back - Season start information

Dear U19,

The first training is on at Happy Valley 6 (formally Happy Valley 8) this coming Sunday 27 August. Read below other relevant information.

Be there at 11.15 am so we can gear up, have a chat, warm-up and be ready to maximise the 75 minutes pitch allocation. Bring plenty of water.

Also, register if you have not done so.

Subject: Valley Fort Welcome back - Season start information.

Dear Parents,

I hope that you've had a wonderful summer so far. Now that school has started, for some, we turn our attention back to our kids activities - and the rugby season kicks off again!

If your kids are not at school yet take a look at the attached flyer for the Valley sports camp being run early next week - there are still some slots available.

Colts season start will be Sunday 27th August at Happy valley pitch 6 (what was called HV8 last year). Some Colts are doing pre season fitness training at HV6 so look for emails from your head coaches.
From 27th August until 10th September we have slightly different times than normal:
10.30am - 11.45am: U13, U14G and U14;
11.45am - 1pm:        U16 and U19
From 17th September onwards the times revert to:
11.00am - 12.30pm: U13, U14G and U14;
12.30pm - 2pm:        U16 and U19

Minis season start will be Sunday 3rd September at St Stephen's college sports pitches in Stanley.
08.30am - 09.45am:  U5, U6, U7 and U8
09.30am - 10.45am:  U9, U10, U10G and U12G
10.30am - 12.00am:  U11 and U12

New Parents - the first morning of the season is always a little 'busy' with kids, parents, balls and kit winging everywhere. It can also be a little confusing finding your way to the right age group so when you arrive look for the white Valley Fort mini tent and someone will be there to meet you. Also please read the attached letter that is attached.

Kit distribution - should be happening on 3rd September for BOTH COLTS (HV6) AND MINIS (St Stephens). Distribution should also be (fingers crossed) much easier this year but we still need 3 to 4 volunteers per age group to assist with distribution for your age group. Specific details will be sent next week. If you can volunteer to assist please send an email to your head coach or reply to this email.

New balls for all - Acuris, our balls sponsors, have very kindly ensured that each player can collect their own, shiny new ball on day 1 of the season. Thank you Acuris.

Mouthguards - Each player can collect a free 'boil and bite' mouthguard on day one of the season. however, if you wish to get a custom made mouthguard made in advance please look at the link below. We have also invited Armory mouthguards to St Stephen's but they are not confirmed yet.

Xblades boots -  Dan will be selling x-blades at St Stephen's on 3rd September however you can also order in advance and collect them on the day.
Parents can reserve a max. of 2 pairs in advance.
All Adult Boots: HKD$250 (RRP HKD$800-$1000);
All Junior Boots: HKD$100 (RRP HKD$250-$500)
All protective headgear: HKD$100 (RRP HKD$250-350);
Contact Daniel: danmascord@gmail.com for more details

Recruitment and Open day - Get your child(ren) to start thinking about who they will bring to our Valley Fort recruitment day on 24th September. On the 24th we will have all Boys mini age groups at The Fort and ALL girls age groups at St Stephens. Further details to follow but get it in the diary and get the kids thinking about who they will bring.

Finally - there is no parking at St Stephens. Also no pets, don't let your other kids wander off away from the pitch and it's still really hot so bring LOTS of water for the kids.
If the kids do run out of water our food sponsor, 3 Blind Mice, will be selling water, hot and cold drinks, food, etc.

I'm bound to have missed something so look for an email next week which will have more info about kit distribution as well as probably repeating a lot of this info too....

Any questions or issues please do come back to me.

Best
Keir

[VFu19] **READ and ACTION – NEW process for VF Kit and Registration** - Year en social

Hi everyone,

A bit of an update:

a) Read below the new procedure for the Kit. Make sure to go to Escapade in the Pulse  from Saturday 27th May until Sunday 25th June to receive your kit when the season starts in September. You won't get your kit until mid-November if you register in September.

b) As a corollary, let me know if you are leaving Hong Kong so that I take you off the list once the season is fully wrapped.

c) Matt, Tom and I are looking to organize a social event to close the season and distribute the year en awards. Either a Thursday evening at the Valley or on a Sunday afternoon. I'm mindful of year end exams preparation and will make a small survey. Let me know if you have a strong preference.

Fred

Dear Parents,

A gentle reminder that Escapade Sports in Repulse Bay will have be ready to size fit players for their upcoming strip from tomorrow morning, Saturday 27th.

Colts Girls samples sizes will NOT be available until Saturday 17th June. Apologies for this however it's a specific female cut which is different from previous years when those players had to make do with unisex jerseys.

Coaches kit is also in process and I'll send an update once these items are available.

That said - if you have a Mini player (male or female, contact and non-contact) or are a male Colts player please make the effort to get to Escapade over the weekend, during Dragon Boat festival next week or any other free time you have when Escapade is open.

Escapade have also offered VF parents aJD parents a 10% discount on selected ranges and a 5% discount on all ranges in their shops.

Specific ordering details below.

Best
Keir and Ashlee

**KIT ORDERING PROCESS FOR CURRENT PLAYERS**
We are adopting a process that has been tried and tested by Sai Kung Stingrays for the past two years. This process reduces waste and cost to the club and also makes kit collection day much easier. I will point out that in the first year that SKS ran this process around 65% of parents successfully adhered to this and their child had the right kit on day one – the other 35% had kids who were not happy as their kit arrived a number of weeks into the new season. Year 2 over 95% of returning players parents successfully adhered to the process and were much happier….

From Saturday 27th May until Sunday 25th June
·         We ask that each player (and parent coach) visits Escapade Sports in Repulse Bay, and is measured using Kukri sample kit sizes. Kukri sizing is different to Canterbury and therefore please do not assume that your shirt size last year will equate to the correct shirt size for 2017/18 season.
·         Escapade will give you a copy of the form as proof of order.
·         Minis – your child’s name will also be pre-printed on the rear of their shirt (inside and outside) so they can wear their new kit on day 1.
·         Colts – you will be allocated a club number which will be your number of the season.
·         If you order your kit (AND PAY FOR REGISTRATION) between these times it means that on day one of the 2017/18 season   your child will collect their own pre-packed bag with their own size fitted shirt (with printed name), shorts & socks.

From Monday 26th June until 30th July
·         For those who didn’t manage to get into Escapade from late May to late June (!) your order will be placed early August with kit being received third week September.

From 31st July until 17th September
·         If you are so busy that you are not in HK until late July your order will be placed towards the end of September and kit arriving, hopefully, before the first Mini festival in November.
