Dear Members,

I trust that you have all had an enjoyable summer, and are looking forward to returning to support your child playing rugby with Valley Fort.

Throughout the closed season, the Officers of the Club have continued to invest time and effort in identifying ways in which we can enhance the reputation of the Club, improve the playing environment for our players, and also to secure the future of the Club. We have come up with a number of initiatives that we feel confident can meet those requirements. In short, we are looking at:

  • Having more qualified coaches
  • Having more higher level coaches
  • Continued use of professional coaching from Valley RFC
  • Subsidising Colts residential training programmes
  • Charity donations in Hong Kong and China
  • Improved pitch condition at the Fort
  • More equipment for coaches

As well as these inclusions/extensions, we seek to secure the future of Valley Fort RFC. As you are well aware, we are a Rugby Club whose very existence depends on the benevolence of the PLA for the usage of the Fort. We would be foolish to think that this is an arrangement upon which we could be complacent. Therefore, we have to have a contingency amount, which would cover the worst-case scenario.

We have therefore unanimously agreed that we should adjust the Fee Structure as follows:

Regular Membership           HK$1000 per season
Overseas Membership        HK$500 per season

The Normal Membership cost will cover the kit, mouth guard and the training costs. The Overseas Membership cost will cover kit and infrequent training costs.

Given that the kit cost is approximately HK$500, the remaining HK$500 still represents excellent value, when you consider that the average number of training sessions at the Fort is around 25. This equates to HK$20 per session. I am sure you will agree that you would be hard pushed to get better value in Hong Kong.

I sincerely hope that you will understand the need for this adjustment, and that you will register your child at Valley Fort in the knowledge that we are striving to enhance enjoyment in the game, whilst maximising the massive potential at the Club.

Very best wishes to you all
