LATEST FROM HKRFU - 17th March 2011
Dear All,
A great day of rugby at King’s Park last Saturday, bringing the G4S domestic season to a fitting climax – thanks to all those who have contributed to an enjoyable season particularly Referees Society, Medical Team, Union sponsors Gilbert, Kukri and G4S, and of course all coaches, managers and volunteers who have put their time and effort into getting teams on the field every Saturday. For the record, here are the G4S Grand Championship Cup winners, and you can read the story of the Div 1 final here http://www.hkrugby.com/en/node/1482

Our friends at Standard Chartered are sponsoring the first ever Deaf Rugby 7s Tournament this Wednesday afternoon at King’s Park, take a look at “Standard Chartered Chun Tok Sevens 2011” http://www.hkrugby.com/en/node/1473
Update on Inouie-San, the Gai Wu player who was taken ill a few weeks ago after a game – he has regained consciousness, which is fantastic, and continues to recover slowly in hospital. If you would like to show your support for his family, I’d suggest either a Get Well card or perhaps a gift for his 4 year old daughter, which you can pass through myself at the Union.
Although the Scottish team were clearly robbed of a deserved victory against England on Sunday, not to worry, because the real Calcutta Cup is up for grabs this Thursday, 7.30pm at HKFC - the annual St Andrews v St Georges match, sponsored by Bruce Rae Property Management. If you’d like to join the winning team, contact Andy Hall on hallaja@hotmail.com alternatively if you want to play for the English contact Antony on Antony.Phillips@cbre.com.hk otherwise just come along and enjoy what will no doubt be an absolute feast of mediocre rugby!
Have you ever sat watching the 6 Nations or the TriNations and thought, “That’s rubbish, I could do better than that” (and believe you me if you’re Scottish that happens quite a lot), then now is your chance – pull your national shirt on, cap yourself and run out in the Country of Origin Tournament on Saturday 19th March all afternoon at King’s Park (poster attached)! This year there’s even a junior tournament at Under 14 level…Anyway, if you fancy a run, check your birth certificate and then contact one of these lot – first match is at 12.30pm and Cup Final is 5.45pm;
