Coaching Courses

We've got some coaching starting this month...

Elementary Training Course Phase I for over 16 yrs kicks off on 4th May, and runs for 8 weeks. This is an excellent opportunity to get any interested new players started for next year, and also may be of interest for parents of mini and colts players who want to learn more about the game...
Cost is $200, check out the website for your nearest training center, bilingual coaches available - closing date for applications is 17 April.

Young Athlete Rugby Training Scheme
Kids aged 10-12yrs and 13-15yrs
This is for existing players who wish to improve their skills There'll be a selection day at Happy Valley on Sunday 23 April 1.30-6.00pm, and for those selected there'll be training afterwards at regional centers.
The course is bilingual, and would be particularly useful for 10-12 year olds interested in preparing to try for the Hong Kong U14 team in a couple of years!

Bilingual application forms for both courses are on the website at http://www.hkrugby.com/hkrugby/courses-and-programmes/lcsd-programmes.cfm

Tournaments & Tours

The 2006 GUANGZHOU RUGBY 10's is to be held on Saturday, May 20 at Tien He Sports Ground. This is a great run ashore, for more details contact rayng@kowloonsportsclub.org.hk

Rumours are flying that May will also see the return of one of the greatest events in Asian rugby...the Macau 10s! Watch this space for details.

Into June, and the 4th annual Black Mountain Touch American Football Tournament will be held on 10th and 11th at HKFC...they're looking for team entries, and quite frankly if the Americans can master the game it should be fairly straight forward to put together a load of Europeans and win the whole thing - for details contact football@blackmountainhr.com

Charities

Banjo O'Hara is currently running through the desert on arguably the toughest footrace on earth. The Marathon Des Sables is an annual event in which competitors challenge themselves to run, walk, or crawl 243km through the Sahara desert in Morocco (www.saharamarathon.co.uk). It equates to roughly a marathon a day for 6 days.

Sound tough? Perhaps an even bigger challenge Bryan is facing is his commitment to raise $US10,000 for the Child Welfare Scheme (www.childwelfarescheme.org ).
