COACHES BRIEFING
Sunday 13th January 2008
Whilst many squads had a smaller turnout than usual due to the holidays, glorious weather greeted those able to attend and most squads seemed to be back in the groove pretty quickly.
A few points to greet the second half of our season:
- All now have the schedule (draft at this stage but do not expect many changes) for the TPD Festival at King’s Park on Sunday; please ensure I get your squad results by the Tuesday following the Festival and post your photos with your report
- The calendar on the website is updated; although we have access to the Fort on 10th February, we will NOT hold a session due to the Chinese New Year break. We also have access to the Fort on 23rd March which is Easter Sunday so please would Head Coaches email me this week to advise whether they would like to train that day or not so we can decide whether to hold a session or not
- With the Easter break occurring before the HK7’s this year, the Club’s Annual Dinner Dance will now be held on Saturday 5th April at Café Deco; in addition to being a great night out (and with no training the next morning this year as our season will have finished there is no need to concern yourselves with sore heads!), the evening is a fund raiser for charity and the Club so we expect each squad to take at least one table so start canvassing the troops now (although prices, theme and timings have yet to be confirmed, book early as spaces are limited)
- Subject to confirmation but by way of heads up, we will be joined for training on 27th January by Hong Kong East and possibly TSW and we will let you have the additional number of players for each age group as soon as they are to hand
- Per the email from David Owens, it is fantastic that players who started with Stanley Fort are now breaking into the HK national squads all the way up so please pass this onto your squads
- Some Head Coaches are still behind on their web pages so please address this asap…..coach photos and contacts, squad photos and weekly reports (the latter by close of play Tuesday weekly)
- All official coaches for each squad can get kit from Tonda but next season only those who have attended or are registered for coaching courses will be eligible……Hugh will monitor this and will give as much notice of course dates but he is at the mercy of the HKRFU……as we need to continually upskill the coaching staff and provide the players with qualified/educated coaching; the courses are excellent and even those coaching non contact groups can benefit greatly from the contact courses and many of the lessons can still be applied
Best of luck for Sunday.
