COACHES BRIEFING:
SUNDAY 10th December 2006
What a wonderful experience was had by all on a very successful tour to Singapore, the first for the club. Carl Redman deserves enormous praise and gratitude for his hard work and organization – it was he who made it happen. On the playing side, the teams acquitted themselves very well; whilst I do not have the full debrief for all squads, I believe Philip Crotty and Barrie Shear’s teams won the Cups and the U9 squad were runners up in the Plate Final having played teams filled with players older than ours and with Laws which they have not been trained. Off the pitch, players, coaches and parents actively and fully participated in the social aspects of a Tour and formed/cemented bonds which will carry through on and off the park.
Carl will prepare a detailed report on the Tour and will include photos etc.
Again, praise and thanks too to Sally Peters for the Tour kit which looked stunning on the players and certainly outshone all other participants and which enabled us to be a credit to the Club in addition to the player exertions on the pitch.
As ever, I would be grateful if Head Coaches would email me the results of their team’ performances in Singapore in the usual format so I can post on the results page.
Other important matters:
- Having been originally told we would not be invited to the Flying Kukris Festival, we are now participating on Sunday 10th December; many thanks to David Hughes who has coordinated with the Head Coaches and the Flying Kukris in submitting our team entries and Hugh Garway who is organizing the buses (I believe he needs each teams’ seat requirements tonight as well as the preferred pick up points between Stanley Beach Road, The Repulse Bay and the HKCC); there will be a bus charge of $20 per person. Please cooperate promptly when required and watch out for further communication; whilst we do not have the match schedule as yet, you can see each age groups start and finish times on the web.
- I am still waiting for a few results from the King’s Park and Sandy Bay Festivals so please get back to me asap on these if you have not already done so
- Head Coaches will receive a communication from Carl and myself regarding a coaches get together (likely to be a junk trip) in the New Year
