COACHES BRIEFING:
SUNDAY 3rd December 2006
- I hope all had an enjoyable and successful Festival at Sandy Bay yesterday; our thanks to our hosts who did a magnificent job including delaying the rain by a day although they were unable to exert similar influence on the temperature control
- Following the King’s Park Festival and at the request of some of our coaches, I had asked the Sandy Bay festival organizers to schedule us against teams of a similar size and ability so that our players could have meaningful, competitive matches rather than us achieving cricket scores so I hope yesterday was to your satisfaction in this regard
- As per the King’s Park Festival, please email me with your squad results in the same format as previously (there is a results page on the web in which these will be recorded)
- For those not going on the Singapore Tour, enjoy your weekend off and do encourage your squad to attend the Professional Sevens at the Fort as it is a great day out
- I emailed Head Coaches this morning with the disappointing news that I received yesterday regarding the Flying Kukris Festival; other than our U12 squad, Valley Fort has not been invited due to the large number of clubs and teams this year and we were one of three victims in a hat draw; please watch this space as we are looking into prospects for venues for a club training session as an alternative
- Other dates coming up to note include 17th December at the Fort which sees our last session before the Christmas break and also the Tai Po Dragons Festival on 7th January (as soon as it is available I will confirm our ability to participate and the venue)
SINGAPORE
Many thanks to Sally Peters for her wonderful efforts to get us kitted out and hopefully, other than the few yet to be done, I hope all achieved this at Sandy Bay. Thanks also to Carl Redman without whom none of this would be possible and you can expect an email update from him this week but, by way of reminder, the players should travel in their tracksuits, wear their Tour shirts with the usual shorts and socks, no mouthguard no play, coaches to wear their usual VF strip and watch closely for the various rendezvous times; Carl will no doubt drop a note to debrief all following our first Tour.
