Message
from the Coach:
Well, that was quite a finale to the season
in every way possible…3 thumping wins out of 3 in the
showcase games with the best rugby of the year by our squad,
a very well behaved unit in the March Past (children as well
as the coaches who delayed starting their alcohol intake!)
and England’s get out of jail.
Our teams were exceptional and included VF1
beating FC1 by 6-5, another team winning by 6-2 and the third
team also registering a great result. The coaches are so proud
of the players for their efforts and performances and we will
go into next season with a lot of optimism and confidence
– in part based on this year and in part on so many
of the players itching to play contact rugby. We had a very
large squad this season which is great and hope to repeat
that for next year.
A few thank yous:
- The parents for getting out of bed on a
Sunday and assisting the coaches as required
- The players for their whole hearted efforts and spirit
- The coaches without whose selfless commitment none of this
would be possible
- The PLA for their cooperation
- All of the backroom people who make the club tick
I hope to see many of you back next season
and, given the switch to contact rugby, will need more help
than ever to ensure that the squad receives proper mentoring
of the game with the priorities (in order) on safety, fun,
skills and teamwork. To this end, I will be discussing with
the other coaches but am likely to need some extra help on
the off field activities with the appointment (unpaid of course)
of an administrative manager and official photographer as
well as additional coaches who will need to attend both the
coaches course and the referees course. Please would anyone
willing to put their hand up email me asap.
To those leaving, thank you and bon voyage
and for the rest, sleep well on Sundays.
