Message from the Coach:

2005 / 2006 end of season wrap.

As a squad, team and the senior mini-rugby players in our club, you were outstanding boys. You entertained us with your rugby skills and you were an example to those around you with your passion and commitment.

Remember what you actually achieved. You made a small squad into a great team with plenty of depth and fire and that only comes from commitment. As a squad you committed to training sessions and you reaped the rewards from your efforts.

Your aims at the start of the season:

To improve your individual rugby skills.
To be a responsible member of the squad and player on and off the field.

There is no doubt in my mind that each and every one of you achieved your objectives.

With that came a great deal of success; Runners-up in the league, Runners-up in the IYTs, Winners of the IYT 10s Bowl, and many of you responsible for a fantastic win over Peninsula at the Intl. 10s tournament. In the middle of the season 8 of you represented the Island side at the NYD tournament.

Looking back I see how unlucky you were as a team not to win both the IYT 10s and of course the Hawke's Cup, but that is a small set back compared to how you represented your Club this season.

I wish you all the very best of luck as you move up to Colts XV rugby. Do not lose this passion you have for the sport and your sense of fair play - it is a massively special spirit you boys have.............do not throw it away. Back your fellow players on the field. When one of the squad is having a tough time either on the park, at home, or at school, rally round and support him. Keep your passion for sports, your health and fitness and the camaraderie and respect for friends, team mates and your opposition.

For those of you leaving HK to go to school elsewhere, the very best of luck. Keep doing what you are doing and when you have a mind to do so flick me line or two and tell me of your exploits. When you reach the dizzy heights of Intl. rugby - send me tickets!

A very big thank you to all of the parents that have supported this squad's endeavors. It can't, doesn't and won't happen without your support and enthusiasms. It was a rock solid gang of Mums and Dads which made our jobs easier and I hope you will continue to give the boys all the encouragement and support necessary to keep them interested in this great sport.

Lastly I am sure you will join me in thanking Wiggie, Andy, Keith, Stuart, Chris and Michael for all they have done in coaching the squad - it takes the team work to make the dream work......corny but true.

Have a great summer.
