MESSAGE FROM THE COACH:
Message to All.
We had a great turnout of 27 lads for the last visit of the 2002/3 Season
to our home pitch at Stanley Fort. Thanks also to Stewart for (finally)
donning the Green Shirt of the SF Coaches, and for the parents who assisted
while our normal Coaches were absent for this week and for the Mums
who helped out at the refreshments table. Much appreciated.
This week also saw the prizegiving of the 2002/3 season. This year saw
the U8's take on new aspects of the game with Scrums and Ball Take.
We also saw considerable development of match awareness with great passing
and positioning from all players. This is borne out from the results
from the tournaments we played. Accordingly the selection of players
for the individual awards, I know was difficult. The awards for our
U8 squad are as follows;
- Best and Fairest - Alexander Bennett-Leat
- Runner up Best and Fairest - Guilaume Duquennoy
- Most Improved
- Charles Evian
- Runner up Most Improved - Nicholas Buckman
Well done to them all.
So as
we come to the season close it leaves me with just three last comments.
First a very big THANK YOU to Jim Kirke who took on the role of Head
Coach for the U8's. He has provided fantastic support to the squad and
the coaches, and I look forward to September, when we meet again for
the U9's. Second, I and Jim wish to thank you the parents for your support
enabling us to field three very credible squads. Third and most important,
thanks to the players as they have shown great team spirit and fair
play throughout the year, and demonstrating great rugby while having
fun.
Regards
